Anderson Plugs
In most installations, the DC-DC charger is typically located 8–12 metres from the vehicle’s start battery, with a 50A Anderson connector used between the vehicle and the caravan. Due to this distance, voltage drop becomes a critical factor, and using undersized cable can reduce charging efficiency.
For in-trailer DC-DC chargers up to 30A, a 50A Anderson connector with 6 B&S cable is generally enough, providing a good balance of performance and flexibility for standard dual battery setups but for systems with chargers between 30A to 50A, a 4 B&S cable is highly recommended.
It is also important to note that 4 B&S is the largest cable size that will fit standard 50A Anderson connectors (SB50). If a larger cable is required, the Anderson connector size must also be increased (e.g. to 120A (SB120), and this upgrade needs to be done on both the vehicle and caravan sides to suit the larger cable.

The common answer
50A Anderson connector + 6B&S cable (13.5mm²)
If your caravan or camper trailer is equipped with a DC-DC charger no bigger than 30A.
to avoid critical voltage drop under load
50A Anderson connector + 4B&S cable (20.5mm²)
If your caravan or camper trailer is equipped with a DC-DC charger no bigger than 50A.
- Live to the battery with a 50A fuse, or :
- Ignition triggered with a 50A fuse + >100A relay
- Optional Red Anderson upgrade available
- Optional 7 to 12 pin upgrade available
