Autowatch Ghost 3 — Owner Guide

Operating Instructions, PIN Management & Troubleshooting

Welcome to your Ghost 3 owner guide.

This guide explains how to operate and manage your Autowatch Ghost 3 immobiliser, including changing your PIN, activating Service/Valet Mode, pairing Bluetooth devices and recovering access using your emergency code.

Important: Procedures may vary depending on your vehicle's configuration. Always use the buttons and confirmation signals demonstrated during your installation handover.

1. Normal Operation — Disarming Ghost 3

Your Ghost 3 automatically protects your vehicle when the ignition is switched off.

To disarm:

  1. Switch the ignition ON.

  2. Enter your personalised PIN using the designated vehicle buttons.

  3. Wait for 2 confirmation flashes.

  4. Start the engine or drive as normal.

If your PIN is not accepted:

  • Wait 5 seconds before trying again.

  • If unsuccessful, switch the ignition OFF.

  • Wait 10 seconds, then repeat the procedure.

Important: Depending on the installation, Ghost 3 may prevent engine starting, prevent gear selection or stall the engine if unauthorised driving is attempted.

Always wait for the 2 confirmation flashes before driving.

2. Changing Your Ghost 3 PIN

You should replace the default installation PIN with your own personalised sequence.

PIN Requirements

  • Minimum: 3 button presses

  • Maximum: 20 button presses

  • Maximum 2 seconds between presses

  • Repeated buttons are permitted

  • Service button: maximum 4 consecutive presses

Some vehicle buttons require a longer press to register.

Step 1 — Enter Learn Mode

  1. Switch the ignition ON without starting the engine.

  2. Enter your current PIN.

  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal fully down.

  4. Enter your current PIN again.

  5. Wait for the indication signal to flash every 3 seconds.

  6. Release the accelerator.

Learn Mode is now active.

On certain vehicles, the high-beam stalk or hazard switch replaces the accelerator pedal.

Step 2 — Program Your New PIN

  1. Enter your new PIN sequence.

  2. Wait for 3 indication flashes.

  3. Enter the same new PIN again.

  4. Wait approximately 3 seconds.

2 flashes = PIN successfully programmed.

4 flashes = Programming unsuccessful.

If unsuccessful, switch the ignition OFF and restart the procedure.

Important: Certain programming outcomes may delete existing smartphone pairings, requiring the devices to be paired again.

3. Service / Valet Mode

Service Mode temporarily allows your vehicle to be driven without entering the Ghost PIN.

Use this mode when leaving your vehicle with a mechanic, dealership, tyre shop or valet service.

Activate Service Mode

  1. Disarm Ghost 3 using your PIN.

  2. With the ignition ON, press your designated Service button 5 times.

  3. Wait for 5 confirmation flashes.

Service Mode is now active.

Deactivate Service Mode

  1. Switch the ignition ON.

  2. Enter your normal PIN.

  3. Wait for 2 confirmation flashes.

Ghost 3 has returned to normal security mode.

Automatic Service Mode Exit

According to the Australian Ghost 2/3 manual, Service Mode automatically exits when:

  • The vehicle exceeds 50 km/h.

  • Continuous driving exceeds 15 minutes.

Both conditions must be met.

After exiting Service Mode, the immobiliser will require the PIN before the next start attempt.

Service Mode is temporary and should never be used as a permanent immobiliser bypass.

4. Bluetooth Key Fob — Normal Operation

An optional paired Bluetooth fob can automatically disarm Ghost 3 without entering your PIN.

How It Works

  1. Carry your paired Bluetooth fob.

  2. Switch the vehicle ignition ON.

  3. Ghost 3 detects the authorised fob.

  4. Wait for 2 confirmation flashes.

  5. Drive normally.

Important Precautions

  • Never leave your paired fob inside the vehicle.

  • Keep your PIN available in case the fob battery becomes flat.

  • If a paired fob is lost, delete existing pairings and re-pair your remaining fobs.

Bluetooth fob battery: CR2032

Estimated battery life: 6 months, according to the Australian owner's manual.

5. Pairing a Bluetooth Key Fob

Step 1 — Enter Learn Mode

Step 3 — Pair the Fob

  1. Put your Bluetooth fob into pairing mode.

  2. Wait for the Ghost indication signal to double-flash.

Double flash = Pairing confirmed.

Note: The supplied Ghost 3 pairing instructions do not specify the button sequence required to put the fob itself into pairing mode. Follow the instructions supplied with your particular fob.

6. Pairing Your Smartphone

Ghost 3 supports smartphone pairing through its compatible application.

Step 1 — Enter Learn Mode

  1. Switch the ignition ON without starting the engine.

  2. Enter your current PIN.

Step 3 — Complete Pairing

  1. Open the compatible Ghost application.

  2. Press the + button.

  3. Wait for the Bluetooth pairing pop-up.

  4. Enter your 6-digit pairing code.

Follow the application prompts to complete pairing.

Important: Smartphone compatibility depends on the application, operating system and supported Ghost hardware.

7. Lost or Stolen Bluetooth Fob

If you lose a paired fob, remove the existing fob authorisations from Ghost 3.

Delete All Paired Fobs

  1. Enter the disarm sequence programming procedure.

  2. Press your designated Service button 10 times.

  3. Wait for 2 confirmation flashes.

All paired fobs have now been deleted.

Any remaining fobs must be paired again.

Warning: This procedure removes all fobs, not just the missing one.

8. Emergency PIN Recovery

If you forget your PIN or a required vehicle button stops working, Ghost 3 provides an emergency recovery procedure.

Your unique 4-digit emergency code is located beneath the scratch-off security panel on your Ghost owner card.

Enter the Emergency Code

  1. Switch the ignition ON.

  2. Press and hold the brake pedal.

  3. Press and release the accelerator the number of times corresponding to the first digit of your emergency code.

  4. Wait approximately 1 second.

  5. Release the brake pedal.

  6. Press and hold the brake pedal again.

  7. Repeat the process for each remaining digit.

  8. Release the brake pedal after entering the fourth digit.

Successful entry: The indication signal flashes every 3 seconds, confirming Learn Mode.

You can now program a new PIN using the procedure in Section 2, Step 2.

Important

The emergency procedure can also provide a single authorised driving cycle without programming a new PIN.

If you need to use the vehicle again without programming a replacement PIN, the emergency procedure must be repeated.

Never share your emergency code or PIN publicly.

9. Troubleshooting

My PIN is not working

Check that the ignition is ON and that you are using the correct vehicle buttons.

Wait 5 seconds and try again.

If unsuccessful, switch the ignition OFF, wait 10 seconds and restart the procedure.

My vehicle starts without entering the PIN

Some Ghost 3 installations allow the engine to start but prevent gear selection or authorised driving.

This does not necessarily indicate a fault.

The immobilisation method depends on your vehicle and installation configuration.

My Bluetooth fob is not working

Check the fob battery and confirm that the fob is paired.

If necessary, use your normal PIN to disarm Ghost 3.

My vehicle no longer asks for the PIN

Check whether Service/Valet Mode is active or an authorised Bluetooth device is present.

If the behaviour continues, contact Positive Terminal for assistance.
