Ghost Handover

Customer Information, Warranty, Responsibilities & After-Sales Support

At Positive Terminal, we believe professional vehicle security goes beyond fitting an immobiliser.

Every Autowatch Ghost installation includes a mandatory customer handover, system testing, operating guidance and ongoing after-sales support.

This page explains what we provide, how to maintain your vehicle's security, the responsibilities of the installer and Australian distributor, and how warranty claims and technical investigations are handled.

Please read this information before your installation and retain your security documentation in a safe place.

1. Mandatory Customer Handover & Training

Every Ghost installation performed by Positive Terminal includes a mandatory, personalised handover conducted directly by the installer.

We generally allocate up to 30 minutes for this process, and longer when necessary. The training is included in the installation service.

During handover, we will:

  • Explain how the immobiliser operates.

  • Demonstrate the initial PIN and supervise your first PIN change.

  • Confirm that your personalised PIN works correctly.

  • Demonstrate how to activate and deactivate Service/Valet Mode.

  • Explain how to prepare the vehicle for routine servicing.

  • Explain the emergency recovery procedure.

  • Explain any additional identification features included in your installation.

  • Provide the applicable owner's manual and security card.

  • Answer your questions and confirm that you understand the essential functions.

The vehicle owner, or an authorised person responsible for operating the system, must participate.

The handover is not complete until the essential procedures have been explained, demonstrated and understood.

Your final personal PIN should remain confidential.

2. What Positive Terminal Is Responsible For

As the supplying and installing business, Positive Terminal is responsible for providing its services with due care and skill and meeting its applicable product and service obligations.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Assessing vehicle compatibility using information reasonably available at installation.

  • Professionally installing and configuring the immobiliser.

  • Testing the system before returning the vehicle.

  • Conducting the mandatory customer handover.

  • Explaining the essential operating and emergency procedures.

  • Providing the relevant product documentation.

  • Completing the applicable distributor warranty registration.

  • Maintaining appropriate installation records.

  • Providing reasonable after-sales technical assistance.

  • Investigating suspected product or installation faults.

  • Arranging appropriate remedies under our warranties and Australian Consumer Law.

We remain the customer's primary point of contact for Ghost products supplied and installed by Positive Terminal.

3. Dynamco – Australian Distributor Responsibilities

Dynamco operates as Ghost Australia and provides Australian distribution and technical support for Autowatch Ghost products.

Its role includes distributor-level assistance with:

  • Product identification and registration.

  • Technical enquiries from authorised installers.

  • Suspected manufacturing defects.

  • Product warranty assessments.

  • Eligible product repairs or replacements.

  • Specialist compatibility and technical investigations.

Distributor Warranty Conditions

Dynamco's published commercial warranty provides two-year coverage for eligible manufacturing defects, subject to its conditions.

Its commercial warranty generally provides repair or replacement of an eligible defective product, but does not automatically include mobile technician attendance or ordinary removal and installation labour.

Its published conditions also address warranty-related freight expenses and exclusions involving misuse, tampering and unrelated external damage.

These are Dynamco's commercial warranty conditions, not a limitation of the customer's Australian Consumer Law rights against Positive Terminal.

Positive Terminal coordinates eligible claims for products we supply and install.

Customers should not need to independently pursue Dynamco before contacting us about a suspected defect.

4. Product Warranty – Positive Terminal

Ghost immobilisers supplied and installed by Positive Terminal include a two-year commercial product warranty from the installation date, subject to applicable conditions.

This covers eligible manufacturing defects.

Where a covered defect is established, we coordinate the appropriate remedy, including technical assessment and liaison with Dynamco where necessary.

Where product replacement is appropriate under our commercial warranty commitment, Positive Terminal provides the replacement immobiliser and associated installation labour without charge.

This is a Positive Terminal customer commitment and is separate from any narrower labour coverage offered under the distributor's commercial warranty.

The warranty does not ordinarily cover faults caused solely by unrelated vehicle defects, accidental damage, misuse or third-party interference.

Any exclusion is assessed according to the actual cause of the fault and cannot override statutory consumer guarantees.

5. Installation Workmanship Warranty

Positive Terminal provides a two-year commercial workmanship warranty for eligible defects attributable to our installation.

This includes relevant installation wiring, connections, mounting and workmanship.

Where a workmanship defect is established, we will provide the appropriate rectification without charge.

Product warranty and workmanship warranty are separate protections, both operating in addition to Australian Consumer Law.

6. Understanding the Security System and Its Limitations

The Autowatch Ghost is an aftermarket electronic immobiliser designed to provide additional protection against unauthorised vehicle operation.

Depending on the model and configuration, authorisation may involve a personal PIN or an approved electronic identification device.

The system helps protect against certain theft methods, including stolen keys, key cloning and relay attacks.

However, no immobiliser can guarantee that a vehicle will never be stolen.

Vehicles may still be physically transported, damaged or subjected to attempts to defeat their security systems.

We recommend maintaining appropriate comprehensive vehicle insurance and considering complementary security equipment where suitable.

7. Customer Security Responsibilities

Customers play an important role in maintaining the security of their vehicle.

Personal PIN

  • Keep your personal PIN confidential.

  • Avoid entering it where others can observe or record it.

  • Never leave it written inside the vehicle.

  • Do not disclose it to workshop personnel or valet attendants.

  • Change it if you believe it has been compromised.

Emergency Documentation

  • Keep your security card and owner's manual in a safe location.

  • Never leave sensitive emergency information inside the vehicle.

  • Do not disclose emergency or pairing credentials to unauthorised individuals.

  • Contact Positive Terminal if your security information is lost or compromised.

Authorised Electronic Devices

Where supported, authorised Bluetooth devices or smartphones may allow automatic identification.

These devices should be treated as security credentials.

Do not leave them inside the vehicle or within operating range unnecessarily. Protect smartphones with appropriate security settings and arrange removal of lost or stolen authorised devices.

Leaving an authorised identification device within operating range may reduce the security provided by the immobiliser.

8. Vehicle Servicing & Service/Valet Mode

Service/Valet Mode allows authorised third parties to operate your vehicle temporarily without receiving your personal PIN.

Use this feature when handing your vehicle to a mechanic, dealership, tyre shop, auto electrician, detailer or valet.

Activate Service/Valet Mode after arriving at the workshop, immediately before handing over your vehicle.

Before leaving the vehicle:

  • Confirm that Service Mode is active.

  • Inform the workshop that an aftermarket immobiliser is installed.

  • Keep your security card and authorised identification devices with you.

  • Do not disclose your personal PIN or installation location.

After collecting your vehicle, confirm that normal security authorisation has resumed.

Incorrect handling of Service Mode may cause workshop starting difficulties, delays or unnecessary diagnostic investigations.

The full operating procedure is demonstrated during the mandatory handover and is available through our restricted customer instructions.

9. ECU Programming, Software Updates & Electronic Modifications

Ghost immobilisers interact with vehicle electronic systems.

Major changes may affect compatibility or operation, including:

  • ECU tuning and performance modifications.

  • Manufacturer software updates.

  • Electronic module replacement.

  • Certain vehicle recalls.

  • Major electronic repairs.

For compatible systems, additional precautions may be required before programming.

Contact Positive Terminal before major electronic programming.

Ordinary Service Mode may not be suitable for every programming operation.

Specialist installer-only procedures are not published or included in customer instructions.

10. Electronic Reliability & Risk of Vehicle Immobilisation

Although Ghost immobilisers are established security products, no electronic device is guaranteed to operate without failure throughout its lifetime.

An unexpected issue may prevent a vehicle from starting.

Potential causes include:

  • Product malfunction.

  • Installation-related faults.

  • Incorrect or unrecognised authorisation.

  • Worn or intermittent factory vehicle buttons.

  • Low vehicle battery voltage.

  • Vehicle communication faults.

  • Software compatibility problems.

  • Unrelated vehicle electrical or mechanical faults.

In some circumstances, roadside assistance, professional diagnosis or towing may be necessary.

Positive Terminal does not provide guaranteed 24-hour roadside assistance.

Responsibility for related expenses depends on the circumstances, cause of the fault and applicable Australian Consumer Law.

11. Factory Vehicle Buttons & PIN Recognition

The Ghost uses compatible factory vehicle controls to recognise the personal PIN.

These original vehicle components can deteriorate independently of the immobiliser.

A worn or intermittent factory button may not be consistently recognised, even if it appears to operate its original vehicle function.

A PIN recognition problem does not automatically establish a Ghost manufacturing or installation defect.

Where investigation establishes that the problem originates from an unrelated factory vehicle component, associated repairs or diagnostic services may be chargeable, subject to prior approval and applicable consumer rights.

12. Complimentary Remote Technical Support

Positive Terminal provides complimentary remote technical assistance to customers who purchased their Ghost installation from us.

This includes reasonable assistance with:

  • General operation.

  • PIN recognition difficulties.

  • Service/Valet Mode.

  • Emergency recovery guidance.

  • Supported identification features.

  • Smartphone compatibility concerns.

  • Other common operating questions.

Where practical, we attempt to resolve issues remotely before arranging an on-site inspection.

For security reasons, proof of ownership or installation details may be required before sensitive assistance is provided.

13. Diagnostic Investigation Procedure

When a customer reports a suspected Ghost malfunction, Positive Terminal may undertake a technical assessment.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

Initial assessment: Reviewing the symptoms, installation history, vehicle condition and recent servicing.

Professional diagnostics: Using suitable equipment to identify relevant fault codes and available diagnostic information.

Installation inspection: Checking relevant electrical connections, power supplies and installation workmanship.

Comparative testing: Performing appropriate tests to distinguish between immobiliser-related faults and unrelated vehicle problems.

Technical consultation: Seeking specialist assistance from Dynamco where required.

The investigation may identify a manufacturing defect, workmanship defect, compatibility issue, original vehicle component failure or unrelated mechanical or electrical problem.

Intermittent faults may require additional investigation.

A preliminary test does not necessarily establish the final cause of a problem.

14. Mobile Diagnostics, Callouts & Chargeable Work

Where a genuine Ghost product or installation defect is reasonably suspected, Positive Terminal may arrange an initial complimentary mobile diagnostic visit.

Diagnostic work required to meet our applicable warranty or Australian Consumer Law obligations will be provided without charge.

If an investigation establishes that the problem is unrelated to the Ghost product or our installation, diagnostic or callout fees may apply.

Examples include unrelated battery faults, factory button failures, mechanical starting problems and unrelated electrical damage.

Any proposed chargeable work will be explained and approved before it begins.

We will not impose charges solely because a suspected warranty problem cannot immediately be reproduced or conclusively diagnosed.

15. Warranty Assessment & Remedies

Where a covered product or workmanship defect is established, Positive Terminal will provide the appropriate remedy.

Depending on the circumstances, this may include:

  • Repair.

  • Reconfiguration.

  • Product replacement.

  • Installation rectification.

  • Removal.

  • Refund or compensation where required by law.

Some claims may require technical consultation or assessment by Dynamco.

A distributor assessment does not remove Positive Terminal's own obligations to customers.

The appropriate remedy depends on the nature of the fault, applicable warranty commitments and Australian Consumer Law.

16. Roadside Assistance, Towing & Associated Losses

Positive Terminal does not operate a guaranteed 24-hour breakdown or recovery service.

If your vehicle becomes immobilised and requires immediate recovery, contact an appropriate roadside assistance provider.

Responsibility for towing, alternative transport, loss of vehicle use and other expenses depends on the cause of the incident and applicable law.

Nothing in this policy excludes compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage where Australian Consumer Law provides that right.

17. Lost Security Information & Ownership Transfers

Customers should securely retain their original security card and owner's manual.

Recovery of lost security information may depend on the availability of original installation and identification records.

If the necessary information cannot be recovered, additional work or replacement equipment may be required.

Any proposed charges will be explained in advance.

When selling or transferring a Ghost-equipped vehicle, we recommend securely transferring the relevant documentation to the verified new owner, changing the personal PIN and removing previously authorised identification devices.

Positive Terminal can assist new owners with appropriate verification and agreed service charges.

18. Warranty Registration, Privacy & Confidential Records

Positive Terminal records relevant customer, vehicle, product and installation information to support warranty registration, technical assistance and future servicing.

Applicable registration information may be provided to Dynamco for legitimate product registration, warranty and technical support purposes.

Sensitive installation details and security credentials are not published on our website.

Customers should never send personal PINs, emergency codes or pairing credentials through public enquiries.

19. Australian Consumer Law

Our commercial warranties operate in addition to the consumer guarantees available under Australian Consumer Law.

These statutory guarantees cannot be excluded by a commercial warranty, distributor policy or customer acknowledgement.

Depending on the circumstances, customers may be entitled to repair, replacement, refund, rectification or compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.

For a major product failure, consumers may have the right to choose between a refund and replacement.

Consumer guarantees may continue beyond the stated two-year commercial warranty period.

Nothing in this document excludes, restricts or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.

20. Customer Acknowledgement

By purchasing or booking a Ghost immobiliser installation through Positive Terminal, you acknowledge that you have been provided access to this information and an opportunity to review it.

In particular, you acknowledge being informed that:

  • Mandatory personalised customer training forms part of the installation.

  • Your initial PIN change is supervised by the installer.

  • You must protect your personal PIN and security credentials.

  • No immobiliser guarantees complete theft prevention.

  • Electronic malfunction or compatibility problems may occur.

  • Certain faults may prevent your vehicle from starting.

  • Factory vehicle button wear may affect PIN recognition.

  • Service/Valet Mode should be used during routine workshop visits.

  • Major electronic programming may require additional precautions.

  • Product and workmanship warranties have applicable conditions.

  • Positive Terminal coordinates relevant warranty and technical support matters.

  • Unrelated diagnostic or callout work may incur agreed charges.

  • Positive Terminal does not provide guaranteed 24-hour roadside assistance.

  • Sensitive operating procedures are supplied separately to verified customers.

Actual completion of customer training is confirmed separately during the installation handover.

This acknowledgement does not waive or restrict your Australian Consumer Law rights.

21. Troubleshooting & Customer Assistance

Personal PIN Not Recognised

Possible causes include incorrect PIN entry, a button enabling/disabling a set of buttons, worn factory vehicle buttons, low battery voltage, electronic communication problems or a Ghost-related fault.

If the problem persists, contact Positive Terminal.

Forgotten PIN or Emergency Access

Refer to the security documentation supplied during installation.

We can provide further assistance after verifying the relevant customer and vehicle information.

Service/Valet Mode Assistance

Service Mode is demonstrated during the mandatory handover.

If you require a refresher, consult your restricted customer instructions or contact us.

Smartphone or Bluetooth Identification Problems

Check that the authorised device is functioning and its relevant wireless settings are enabled.

Where available, use your personal PIN as an alternative authorisation method.

Contact us if the problem continues.

Vehicle Will Not Start

A starting problem does not necessarily indicate an immobiliser fault.

Vehicle battery condition, authorisation, recent electronic repairs and unrelated mechanical problems may be relevant.

Contact Positive Terminal for technical guidance or your roadside assistance provider if immediate recovery is required.

After Software Updates

If your immobiliser behaves differently following electronic programming, contact us with details of the work performed.

Contact Positive Terminal

For assistance, provide your vehicle make, model, year, approximate installation date and a description of the problem.

We may request proof of ownership or installation before providing sensitive operating instructions.

Never send your personal PIN, emergency override code or Bluetooth pairing credentials through public enquiries.
